Pharmacist Vince Maar, former board member of the Association of Young Pharmacists (VJA), has been using our DNA tests for some time to help with medication assessments in collaboration with GPs. This is part of a practical project where GPs supply ‘difficult’ cases.
The use of DNA analysis in primary care is not (yet) reimbursed by health insurers. But because he sees its potential, Vince and the GPs he works with have started using it anyway – to the satisfaction of all concerned.
“Due to the growing demand for healthcare, we have to work on prevention and on using medicines effectively. With tools like this in pharmacogenetics, we can exploit the expertise of our profession to achieve this and do it in collaboration with GPs.”
